Sick of school

I'm thinking about dropping out of school and getting a job or two so I can save up and travel...which is what I wanted to do all along. I am just sick of school draining me of all my money and I feel like I have nothing to show for it. Yah I learned a lot but all the photos I take are for class, not for me. They are not images I feel like taking but images I have to take for an assignment.

I just don't feel like working this hard and getting nowhere. I also need money. I am always broke thanks to school. Every cent I get ends up going to school or equipment. I would not mind the equipment so much if I had time to save up and get the stuff I wanted. :(

I am also sick of english class. Why do we have to take these classes in high school if we have to take them again in college? I should have gotten extra credit for sitting through classes I did not want to take in both high school and college.

I have turned capitalist...time is money and I need all the money I can get.

if it's really not for you then it might be wise to leave. However, if you've only got a bit of time left you should stick it out. You don't want to get 5 years down the line and wish you'd completed the course.

Good luck! :)

I've always been under the impression that art school drains the creative spirit!

If you want to drop out to travel you should, I've always wanted to do something like that <3

It does drain you. I thought Memphis was a creative city but it drains me more than school.

Jen, please don't take this wrong, just blame my hormones.

You need to stay in school, even if it's transfering to Memphis art and then you could get internships and do showings because the school has a gallery and Memphis downtown has a art district. It'll be cheaper to do school in state. Also you could get an associates from state tech for cheap and it'd make it easier to get a job say in a doctors office. Leah dropped out of school and regrets it and can't go back now. If you do drop out just remember that it'll be harder to go back when you're older.

I took many classes with older students who warned us never to drop out because of how tough it was.

With the unemployment rate being so high in memphis it'll be really difficult to find any job, especially without a degree. Everyone I know is going back to school because they're not making enough to pay their bills and the competition is so tough! Everyone is broke right now!

As for taking classes in high school and then retaking them in college- they're different levels. In hs you could have taken AP classes (I think Amy did) and they count for college classes so you wouldn't have had to retake anything.

Why do you think that you deserve extra credit for sitting through classes? You're learning what you need to. As I was told by a professor "college is the one time people don't want what they pay for, which is to learn, they just want the paper."
